Lemonade has become a staple drink at parties and picnics. The problem is that some people don’t realize that there are different types of lemonade. Distinguishing one lemonade from the other only takes a flavor.
Lemonade is one of those drinks that can go from good to great, depending on how you make it.

1. Plain Lemonade
Plane lemonade is simply lemon juice and water with a bit of sugar (if you want).
Although I’m not a big fan of the traditional kind, I do like the new-fangled stuff made with fresh lemons and natural sugar. It has a nice tartness, which makes me feel better about drinking it.
The key is to use fresh lemons and lots of them. If you don’t have access to fresh lemons, bottled lemon juice will work in a pinch.
You should also add some simple syrup or honey for sweetness. This recipe is based on my personal preference. Feel free to adjust as you see fit!
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 cup cold water
To make this type of lemonade, mix lemon juice and water in a small pot. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once boiling, remove from heat and let cool completely. Stir in salt.
You can add additional flavors such as ginger, cinnamon, vanilla extract, or anything else you’d like.

2. Fruits combo lemonade
This Is also good for you! You can make this with any fruit you want. Just add your favorite fruits (or berries) to the blender and some water and ice cubes. Blend until smooth.
I prefer to take these types of lemonade straight up – no added sweeteners. However, when having guests over, adding a few splashes of honey or agave nectar brings out the drink’s flavor.
- 1 cup watermelon juice (or any citrus juice)
- 2 cups water
- 3-4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon salt
Add all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
You may need to adjust the amount of water depending on the size of your blender. If you have a high-powered blender, it might be able to handle more liquid than a regular blender.
However, if you don’t have access to a juicer, you can squeeze the lemon directly into the pitcher. You may prefer a sweeter version of Lemonade, you can add sugar or honey to taste.
How to serve Lemonade
Serve Lemonade chilled in tall glasses. Add a slice of lemon or lime on top of each glass. You can also pour Lemonade into a large bowl and then add ice cubes. Then stir before serving.
3. Minty Lemonade
This is another refreshing beverage perfect for summertime. Blend mint leaves with water and ice. Then strain it into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
Chilled minty lemonade is great for hot weather. It leaves a refreshing feeling after consumption. You may decide to add some ice cubes to keep it chilled while you drink.
- 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 cup cold water
- Juice of one lemon
- 1/4 cup sugar (optional)
- Place mint leaves in a blender along with the cold water. Blend until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh strainer. Set aside.
- Combine mint puree, lemon juice, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan. Heat over low heat, frequently stirring, until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
- Stir in lemon juice and refrigerate until ready to serve.
- You can garnish with mint sprigs or slices of lemon.
4. Lemonade With Herbs
Herbs such as basil, rosemary, oregano, thyme, etc., are ubiquitous ingredients used to create delicious lemonade.
They provide a unique flavor that cannot be replicated by just plain old lemon juice.
You can easily combine these herbs with lemon juice and water to make a fantastic-tasting lemonade.
For example, to make herb lemonade, add three tablespoons of dried herbs to a jar, pour in enough boiling water to cover the herbs, let sit overnight, drain off the liquid, and squeeze the remaining juice from the herbs.
- 2 cups watermelon juice (or another type of citrus juice)
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 cup cold water
- Salt to taste
- Boil basil leaves in a small quantity of water to extract the flavors. Next, mix lemon juice and your herbal extract with other ingredients except for salt.
- Stir well for about 1 minute to ensure all the flavors mix. Furthermore, garnish with oregano.
- You can also add mint leaves to the mixture. Just remove them from their stems before blending.
- Lastly, season with salt, but ensure it is not too much; a pinch would do.

5. Vegetable Lemonade Combo
This is a fun way to make a tasty veggie version of lemonade—blend veggies such as carrots, celery, and cucumbers with water and ice.
Vegetable lemonade is an excellent alternative to regular lemonade. It’s healthy, nutritious, and tastes great.
- 1/2 cup cucumber juice
- 1/2 lemon
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup ice cubes
Extract cucumber juice from whole sizes of cucumbers. Next, combine lemonade juice with your cucumber extract, then stir together till It’s nicely mixed. Lastly, add sugar or salt just the way you like it.
How to Serve this Lemonade
The Vegi combo works well as a lunch snack. It’s nutritionally packed to give you the boost you need for the rest of your day.
Enjoy this lemonade cold while having lunch. You can also decide to replace the cucumber with carrots; it works well.
6. Alcoholic Lemonade
This is one of the most popular drinks worldwide. The combination of lemon and alcohol creates a fantastic taste sensation.
Although alcoholic types of lemonade aren’t suitable for children, to make alcoholic lemonade, mix 1 part vodka, two parts lemon juice, and four parts water.
Add more water if needed to get the right consistency. Serve chilled.

- Citrus vodka
- Ginger roots
Mix lemon juice with alcohol and chill. Garnish with slices of lemons and ginger roots.
